Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 4 kilos of cocaine, valued at $400,000 during a traffic stop yesterday on Whipple Avenue in Stark County. The suspect will be arraigned in Massillon Municipal Court on felony charges associated with the case.
The driver, Anthony E. Roberson, 39, of Canton was charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies. He was also charged with fleeing and eluding and tampering with evidence, both third-degree felonies. He was cited for reckless operation, a red light violation and a safety belt violation.
Troopers attempted to stop the 1995 Lexus LS400 for a red light violation on Whipple Avenue near Portage Road in North Canton in Stark County at 10:15 p.m. yesterday. The suspect did not stop, and a short pursuit ensued. During the pursuit the suspect was seen throwing four white bricks out of his window before losing control of the vehicle and striking a utility pole on Whipple Avenue near Munson Street. Roberson exited his vehicle following the crash and was immediately secured.
