1, 930 kilos of cocaine seized from a Panamanian ShipPosted on October 2, 2008
On October 2, 2008 the DEA's Caribbean Division and the members of the Caribbean Corridor Initiative announced the seizure of around 1,930 kilos of cocaine on the Panamanian vessel Megan Star. The seizure resulted from an investigation of the CCI and U.S Coast Guard. The ship was intercepted by a U.S Navy ship and was escorted to the Coast Guard base in San Juan for a thorough inspection where the 1,930 kilos were found in different areas of the vessel. The crew of the Megan Star are in Federal custody and were nationals of Costa Rica, Ecuador, India, Nicaragua and Spain.
