Illinois Drug Interdiction Group nabs 100 kilos of cocainePosted on July 15, 2013
On July 15, 2013 a special team of drug interdiction officers from the Illinois State Police, Elmhurst Police Department, and Northlake Police Department made a significant cocaine seizure. Chicago based troopers had received information that a 2005 Toyota Tacoma truck was heading to the Chicago area. The troopers observed the truck on North Avenue in Stone Park, IL. The troopers pulled the vehicle over for a traffic violation and an Elmhurst drug K9 dog gave a positive alert to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the truck. A search of the vehicle revealed two rubber tubs in the bed of the truck. Inside of the tubs, officials located 100 kilograms of cocaine. In addition to the cocaine, officers also found approximately $15,000 in cash.
The driver of the truck was arrested for cocaine trafficking.
