Nevada Drug Interdiction Team Seizes 284 Pounds of CocainePosted on March 22, 2013
The Las Vegas Metro Police Department announced the seizure of 284 pounds of cocaine. This seizure resulted from the efforts of the HIDTA Interdiction Task Force after they stopped an 18 wheeler truck for a traffic violation which was heading north on Interstate 15 near Craig Road around 3:45 a.m. This traffic stop led to the identification of 52 year old Rahul Grewal. A search of the tractor trailer revealed 284 pounds of cocaine which was concealed in the cargo shipment of vegatables. The kilograms of cocaine were packaged in Hello Kitty and Justin Beiber wrapping paper.
Grewal was charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance Cocaine and Transporting a Controlled Substance for Sale Cocaine. Grewal was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center. Authorities estimated the value of the cocaine to be worth almost eleven million dollars.
