$107 Million in Cocaine Seized by U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard

On Sunday, May 18, 2014, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard forces on the USS Ingraham tracked a semi-submersible vessel. The Ingraham’s Seahawk helicopter then visually located the craft and observed the suspects onboard puncturing their hull in an effort to escape.

A U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment subsequently boarded the semi-submersible and brought it alongside the Ingraham. The Ingraham crew then worked to pump water out of the sinking vessel as the Colombian Navy towed it to port.

A total of 2,380 kilograms of cocaine, with an approximate street value of $107 million, was found to be contained on board the semi-submersible.
