$4 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized off Coast of JamaicaPosted on February 19, 2014
The United States Coast Guard seized 171 kilos of cocaine from a go-fast boat driving near Kingston, Jamaica. USCG received a report of the 30 foot, suspicious boat hauling packages from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Wave Knight.
An armed helicopter was launched to intercept the boat. The Helicopter flew alongside the boat and had to fire warning shots to get the boat to stop.
Once the boat was stopped, a smaller USCG boat was deployed to arrest the smugglers and seize the cocaine that was found aboard. Several packages of cocaine, weighing 171 kilograms, has a wholesale value of $4 million. The smugglers were brought to the U.S. and turned over to authorities.
