29 Pounds of Cocaine found in Tractor Trailer

On Tuesday, May 20, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer at the Mariposa Commercial facility in Nogales, Arizona, referred a tractor-trailer for further inspection.

A positive canine alert led officers to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle. Twelve packages of cocaine, weighing almost 29 pounds, were subsequently located in a custom built compartment inside the tractor’s frame. The estimated street value of this find is $300,000.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 33-year-old Mexican national, was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations.
