136 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in the CaribbeanPosted on January 30, 2014
The U.S. Coast Guard seized 136 kilograms of cocaine after being notified by a Coast Guard Auxiliary aircraft of a suspicious boat. The boat was located 60 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico with three subjects aboard.
With support of a Helicopter and several Coast Guard vessels, the suspicious boat was stopped. Joselito Taveras, Miguel Jimenez, and Alberto Dominguez were found aboard with 9 bales of cocaine.
The 9 bales contained 136 kilos, about 300 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $3.5 million.
All three subjects were arrested for conspiracy to possess and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and conspiracy to import and importation of controlled substances.
