Cocaine Seized at JFK AirportPosted on June 5, 2014
On Thursday, June 5, 2014, U.S. citizen Warren Hawk returned to Jamaica, New York, after traveling to Georgetown, Guyana. While passing through inspection at John F. Kennedy International Airport, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers observed the handle rails of his suitcase to be unusually thick.
Hawk was subsequently escorted to a private search room where officers probed the rails of his luggage and discovered the presence of cocaine. In total, 4.82 pounds of cocaine, valued at approximately $82,000, was seized.
Hawk was taken into custody and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations. He will now be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s office in the U.S. Eastern District of New York for his smuggling attempt.
