Nearly $2 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized in TX

On the morning of Friday, May 2, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers encountered a blue 2002 Jeep Liberty at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas.

When referred for further inspection, the vehicle was found to contain 25 hidden packages of what appeared to be cocaine. This find weighed in at 59.44 pounds, with an estimated street value of $1.9 million.

Both the vehicle driver, a 22-year-old male Mexican citizen, and passenger, a 21-year-old male Mexican citizen, were arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. The narcotics and Jeep Liberty were seized.
