Illinois State Police Seize 5 Pounds of Heroin on Interstate 55Posted on September 10, 2011
The Illinois State Police announced the seizure of five pounds of heroin and 6.5 ounces of cocaine. The seizure resulted from a traffic stop on September 10, 2011 at 4:12 p.m. on southbound Interstate 55, near Litchfield, IL. The trooper stopped the driver who was identified as Terence X. Jones of Chicago. Jones was speeding in his 2006 Jeep and upon speaking to the driver, the trooper could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, the drugs were located in a hidden compartment in the Jeep. Jones was arrested on federal drug charges.
