$1.3 Million Worth of Heroin Seized in TX

On Friday, April 11, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Veterans’ International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas, encountered a 1998 Chevrolet 2500 pickup. The vehicle was referred for further inspection.

Upon searching the truck, officers discovered 11 packages of heroin concealed inside the vehicle’s two batteries. This find weighed in at 13.8 pounds, with an estimated street value of $1.3 Million.

The driver, a 53-year-old Mexican citizen residing in Florida, was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. The heroin was seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
