El Centro Sector Border Patrol Seizes more than $63,000 Worth of HeroinPosted on May 8, 2014
On the morning of Thursday, May 8, 2014, U.S. Border Patrol agents of the El Centro Sector in California referred an intercity bus for further inspection at the Highway 86 checkpoint.
A subsequent canine sniff resulted in a positive alert to the upper middle region of the bus. Once inside the vehicle, the canine alerted to 2 carry-on bags. A search of these bags uncovered 3 packages of heroin, weighing about 7 pounds. The estimated street value of this find is $63,360.
One of the passengers, a 25-year-old female U.S. citizen, came forward and identified herself as the owner of the 2 bags. She also confessed to possessing methamphetamine in one of the bags. The methamphetamine weighed in at 3 grams, with an estimated street value of $227,000.
The woman was taken into custody and her narcotics were seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
