Heroin Found in 2002 Chrysler Sebring's BatteryPosted on September 13, 2014
On Saturday, September 13, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Texas came across a gold 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The driver, a 27-year-old female U.S. citizen, presented officers with a Texas identification card and birth certificate, before being referred for further inspection.
A subsequent scan with a non-intrusive imaging system alerted officers to abnormalities within the Sebring’s battery. Upon a search of the battery, officers located 5 packages of methamphetamine and 2 packages of heroin.
The methamphetamine weighed in at 2.47 pounds with an estimated street value of $79,000. The heroin weighed in at 2.56 pounds with an estimated street value of $256,000. Both narcotics and the vehicle were seized.
The woman was taken into custody and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
