Methamphetamine and Heroin Seized at I-5 checkpoint
Posted on April 29, 2014On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, U.S. Border Patrol agents at the I-5 checkpoint referred a 2000 Nissan Maxima for further inspection. The driver, a 24-year-old male Mexican national, was charged with an immigration violation when he was unable to present proper documentation.
A canine sniff of his vehicle alerted positive to the presence of narcotics. A search of the Nissan’s trunk uncovered a red bag containing 5.29 pounds of heroin and 17.20 pounds of methamphetamine. The total estimated street value of this find is $235,480.
The driver was taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
