50 lbs of marijuana is seized by Missouri TroopersPosted on August 18, 2007
At approximately 1 p.m., August 18, 2007, Troop I commercial vehicle officers stopped a 1985 Kenworth tractor and trailer unit on eastbound Interstate 44, near the east city limit of St. Robert, in order to conduct a vehicle inspection. Inconsistent statements made by the driver prompted the officers to request a trooper, who then requested a canine, to respond and assist with the vehicle stop. The canine alerted to the load. Further inspection revealed approximately 50 pounds of processed marijuana concealed inside a large coil of copper tubing on the trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer unit, James C. Salyers, 46, Mesa, AZ, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance in a non-prescription container. Salyers was incarcerated in the Pulaski County Jail.
