Two arrested with 44 lbs of marijuana in Pizza Hut parking lot

On September 8, 2007, at 9:15 a.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a Mercury Marquis in the parking lot of the Pizza Hut in Clinton for suspicious activity. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained. During the search, a total of forty-eight bricks of marijuana, weighing approximately forty-four pounds were located inside the vehicle.

The driver, Angel Alejandro, 18, and the passenger, Edward L. Vasquez, 17, of Commerce, Oklahoma, were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and taken to the Henry County Jail.

The charges for which Alejandro and Vasquez were arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
