Record Indoor Grow Operation Raided in Las Vegas, NVPosted on January 9, 2013
The Southern Nevada SCORE Team is used to finding significant and sophisticated marijuana growing operations. Sometimes, these grow operations are found outside and more often than not, they are located in residences in neighborhoods that are not riddled with crime. The SCORE Team which consists of law enforcement officials from the Las Vegas Metro Police, the Henderson Police Department, and the DEA. In 2012 alone, the SCORE Team found 142 indoor grow operations and confiscated more than 8,500 plants. The SCORE Team also seized a lot of weapons, 195 of them to be exact. That's an average of over one firearm per grow operation. On January 9, 2013 the SCORE Team seized a Las Vegas record 1,481 marijuana plants from a single residence located in the 3300 block of trickling Stream Circle. Investigators also seized $29,593 in cash. Authorities stated that the house had marijuana and/or marijuana supplies in virtually every room of the home and the house had likely suffered severe damage from the grow operation.
During the search warrant, two adults, a male and female attempted to escape the scene but were apprehended. Initially, the two subjects' identities could not be determined and were booked into the Clark County Detention Center under the names of "John Doe" and "Jane Doe". The two Asian suspects were charged with maintaining ahouse for the sale of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, and possess of a controlled substance.
Further investigation revealed the identifies of the suspects to be 45 year old Biao Cheung (or Chang) and 44 year old Chen Hui Qing.
