125 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in NMPosted on May 3, 2014
On the morning of Saturday, May 3, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred a 2003 Chrysler van for further inspection at the Santa Teresa port of entry in New Mexico.
A scan with an x-ray system indicated abnormalities within the vehicle. A thorough search of the Chrysler ultimately uncovered 111 bundles of marijuana located in the van’s interior and side panel.
The driver, a 40-year-old female Mexican citizen, was taken into custody and handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Her 19-year-old son and 13 year-old-daughter were also present in the van at the time. Both children were released.
