156 Pounds of Marijuana Seized at Antelope Wells International CrossingPosted on May 27, 2014
On Tuesday, May 27, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Antelope Wells international crossing in New Mexico stopped to examine a shuttle bus.
Both the bus and the trailer it was towing were found to contain boxes of floor tiles. The officers observed that the tiles stacked on the top and bottom were whole, but the tiles between them had been cut into pieces. Closer inspection revealed bundles of marijuana stuffed in the gaps between the broken tiles.
A total of 156 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $124,800, was seized.
The shuttle bus driver, a 45-year-old male citizen of Arizona, and passenger, a 54-year-old male citizen of Arizona, were arrested and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations.
