267 Pounds of Marijuana Seized near In-Ko-Pah Country ParkPosted on May 11, 2014
On the evening of Thursday, May 1, 2014, Border Patrol agents working near In-Ko-Pah Country Park came across footprints and large bundles of marijuana in the mountains. The bundles weighed a total of 267 pounds, with an estimated street value of $160,000.
A canine from the Border Patrol’s Search, Trauma, and Rescue team performed a search of the area and successfully located six males attempting to hide approximately 300 yards to the east of the bundles.
Interviews conducted with each of the men led agents to determine that they had entered the United States illegally in an effort to smuggle the now abandoned marijuana. All six men were taken into custody and handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for additional investigation.
