$765,000 of Marijuana Seized in San Diego, CAPosted on April 7, 2014
On Monday, April 7, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer for further inspection at the Otay Mesa commercial facility.
In addition to the truck's shipment of mixed produce, an imaging system also revealed abnormalities within the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered a box of carrots containing 82 wrapped bundles of marijuana.
The total weight of the bundles came in at 1,275 pounds, with an estimated street value of $765,000.
Both the truck and marijuana were seized.
