Approximately 1 Ton of Marijuana Seized in TexasPosted on May 23, 2014
On the afternoon of Friday, May 23, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers work at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility referred a red 2003 Kenworth tractor for further inspection.
The tractor and the white 1999 utility trailer it was pulling were allegedly transporting from limes from Mexico. Once the shipment was scanned with an imaging system, abnormalities were observed. A pursuant search uncovered 575 packages of marijuana interspersed among the boxes of limes.
This find weighed a total of 2,064.6 pounds, with an estimated street value of $2,065,000.
Both vehicles and their contents were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
