More Than 2 Tons of Marijuana Seized in Laredo, TXPosted on March 28, 2014
On Friday, March 28, 2014, a routine inspection at the World Trade Bridge led U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry to uncover more than 2 tons of marijuana.
A 1995 Volvo tractor approached the bridge and was stopped for secondary inspection. Upon searching the tractor’s shipment, officers located 2,000 packages of marijuana concealed among kitchen parts.
The packages weighed a total of 4,138 pounds, with an estimated street value of more than $3.3 million.
The marijuana and the tractor were both seized.
