On Thursday, July 10, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, encountered a 2001 Ford Sterling tractor. According to the vehicle’s manifest, the tractor trailer was hauling a commercial shipment of walnut cookies.
Officers referred the tractor for further inspection and performed a dockside examination. The search uncovered 9,227 bundles of marijuana mixed in with the walnut cookies. This find weighed in at 10,524 pounds, with an estimated street value of $8.4 million.
Both the marijuana and the tractor trailer were seized.
