$500K of Methamphetamine and Heroin Seized in CA

On the morning of Sunday, August 24, 2014, Border Patrol agents at the Pine Valley checkpoint along Interstate 8 in Pine Valley, California, encountered a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 33-year-old Mexican national female. After refusing to roll down her vehicle window for routine questioning, the woman and her vehicle were referred for further inspection.

A subsequent canine sniff yielded a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. Upon searching the vehicle, agents located a custom-made compartment hidden below the dashboard. It was found to contain 9 bundles of China White heroin and 30 bundles of methamphetamine.

The heroin weighed in at 13.85 pounds, with an estimated street value of $270,040. The methamphetamine weighed in at 24.91 pounds, with an estimated street value of $249,100.

The woman was arrested and handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Her narcotics and vehicle were seized.
