Border Patrol makes Meth Seizure in Calexico, CAPosted on April 17, 2014
On the morning of Thursday, April 17, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were using a canine team to screen vehicles at the Calexico downtown port of entry when a 2008 Chrysler Sebring alerted positive for the presence of narcotics.
Further inspection revealed abnormalities inside the vehicle’s passenger side rocker panel. A pursuant search uncovered 22 packages of methamphetamine hidden within all four of the Chrysler’s rocker panels.
This find weighed in at 36 pounds, with an estimated street value of $236,000.
The vehicle driver, a 25-year-old male Mexican citizen, and the passenger, a 22-year-old female U.S. citizen, were both arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations. The Chrysler and the methamphetamine were both seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
