Freezer Bags Filled with Methamphetamine Found Hidden in Vehicle

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, U.S. Border Patrol agents at the San Clemente checkpoint in California referred a 2007 Dodge Caliber for further inspection. A subsequent canine sniff yielded a positive alert for the presence of narcotics along the vehicle’s left rocker panel.

Agents searched this area and located 23 freezer bags stuffed with methamphetamine hidden below both side panel covers. This find weighed in around 33.09 pounds with an estimated street value of $330,900.

The 24-year-old male driver was taken into custody for drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. His vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol, while both he and his narcotics were handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
