Methamphetamine Intercepted in San Clemente, CAPosted on March 26, 2014
On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the I-5 checkpoint observed a suspicious 1999 Honda Accord heading north. The vehicle was stopped and a canine sniff yielded a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle uncovered packages of methamphetamine concealed with the passenger-side rear quarter panel and the driver-side quarter panel. The find weighed in at 17.33 pounds, with an estimated street value of $173,300.
The vehicle driver was taken into custody and handed over to Drug Enforcement Administration agents. The methamphetamine and Honda Accord were seized.
